Playing the Russborough Bluthner

A classically-trained pianist, I hold an Associate Diploma (Distinction) in Piano Performance from Trinity College of Music, London, and run a popular private teaching practice in SW London for children and adults, from complete beginner to early intermediate students. A keen concert-goer, I write music reviews for Bachtrack.com, exhibition reviews for Bachtrack’s sister site OneStopArts.

I am passionate about music and its importance in our lives. My earliest memories are of hearing classical music being played in my family home, either by my father, who was a fine amateur clarinettist, or on the hi-fi. My parents encouraged me to learn the piano, and took me to many concerts as a child where I was fortunate enough to hear some of the “greats” of the classical music world, including pianists Radu Lupu, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Alfred Brendel and John Lill, cellists Paul Tortelier and the late Jacqueline du Pré, and the clarinettist Jack Brymer.

This blog is a reflection of my passion, as well as my commitment to my teaching. The articles on this blog are in no particular order, nor follow a specific theme, other than music and pianism, with occasional reviews of books or exhibitions or other cultural events I have enjoyed. I am always happy to consider subjects for the blog and guest posts are invited. Please feel free to leave comments. You may prefer to contact me direct at franwilson66@gmail.com.
